noticed two books at barnes and noble tonight... one by john kerry my vision for america written in first person, of course, and stating the reasons he wants to be the president and the challenges he will face in fixing our nation... the other edited by someone else and quoting entire speeches given by president bush since his election in 2000 called president bush speaks to america...
i noticed that kerry's book was 12 dollars and published by penguin... the book containing a selection of bush's speeches was 10 dollars and was published by a lesser known (at least to me) publishing house...
of course, i did not read either of these books in their entirety... i skimmed a few passages written by kerry, and i read the speech that president bush made on september 20, 2001 as he declared "war on terrorism" and talked about the identity of our attackers as being a loose connection of terrorists organizations...
i also noticed that kerry's book was introduced with a description of his service in vietnam and his "2 tours of duty" in the mekong delta with his silver star, bronze star, and 3 purple hearts prominently mentioned after his 4 terms of service in the u.s. senate...
the back cover of the bush book had a variety of comments from such places as the online journal slate, and other journals that i am failing to recall at this moment... all reviews were glowing in terms of president bush's eloquence and ability to rivet his audience(s)...
i would have purchased both books, but cash flow is tight... and i imagine the contents of both books is pretty much in the public domain (internet) somewhere...
