Jim Caviezel at Seacoast Church

Jim Caviezel who played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, is a devout Roman Catholic. JC, as Jim is nicknamed, is married to a schoolteacher and has two adopted children from China (at least one of whom has a brain tumor).

Mr. Caviezel spoke this weekend at my church, Seacoast of Long Point Road, Mount Pleasant, SC about the making of THE PASSION and of dislocating his shoulder, being struck by lightning and by a whip during shooting of the scourging scene.

He was especially eloquent when speaking of history judging the U.S. harshly if we fail to fight to maintain our freedoms. He also spoke less passionately but no less convincingly of the grace which comes in and through suffering.

He reminded us that fence-sitting between a commitment to our walk with Christ and our walk in and with the world is an abomination to the Lord. It makes him want to 'spew us out' of his mouth. Mr. Caviezel called us out of complacency and into Christian action.
